Robin
This little Robin has been back and forward to the garden feeders. And in the blink of an eye, the temperature soared by 10 degrees overnight and the snow was gone. This is why snow in Scotland causes so many problems, the weather is so changeable and the snow in the central belt usually only stays for a few days, if even that long. We can get a huge dump ( huge by UK standards - but minuscule in comparison to Scandinavian countries and Canada) but then it’s gone. The north of Scotland gets more snow than us, and it does linger longer too.
Our roads are gritted but not very well, and usually only the main roads. The UK drives predominantly on summer tyres, although savvy folk further north in snowier regions do change tyres. Also our snow is wet, turning to slush quickly, unlike snow is other regions which is dry and powdery. I love the snow, but not driving in it, had a couple of near misses on Friday and had to dig myself out of a skid yesterday.
