It is quite difficult to imagine the life lived by elderly people in Romania, so when I set out to buy items to fill a shoe box, I was glad of the suggestions given by the charity that organises the shoe box appeal. It was fun buying small items such as hand cream, a scarf, pens with pictures of London, a beanie hat and lots of other bits and pieces, but I do wonder if they will be suitable. I will never know! At WI tonight there was quite a pile of shoe boxes ready to join others on the lorry trip across Europe. I hope they give pleasure when they are opened.
