What's With The Hair, Girlfriend?

I know - I said maybe "Swee'pea Saturday" might become a thing. It'll probably be an intermittent thing. But when I saw this shot I got of the female northern cardinal with whatever it is that's going on atop her head, I had to use if for Silly Saturday. I wonder if she's a young one who's just getting her big girl feathers, or... if it's my friend from last year who had a hole where her crest should have been? Whatever's going on, I think it's charming. And silly.
