A bit of a surprise

This morning the Fenna, a Leask Marine vessel, towed this huge barge/linkspan/pontoon into the bay.  It says on it that it is 50m long, and it certainly looks every inch of that!  Half the village was either at their windows with their binoculars, or out on the road with their cameras!

Extra is another shot of it, showing also the pontoon which spends all winter here every year.  May to September it is used for the passenger ferry which runs between John o' Groats and Burwick.

I was at a house further along the village where I am cat sitting, so this view from their garden.  Their gate was made by Mike, several years ago, for the previous owner.
