Whammy
Right, a busy day of activities in advance of tomorrow's trip south. Yes, me and my family are hitting the capital of England for a veritable melange of culture and fun until Monday, so no blips after this one 'til my return. Expect a photographic cornucopia of guardsmen in bearskin hats, punks on the King's Road, red telephone boxes, etc, etc. I will do my best, you have my word.
In between the pictures and tea out we ended up where every self-respecting Edinburgh family kills time when it's raining, no prizes for guessing the location of today's blip. We'd had a trip to the Cameo for Frankenweenie which was really very good, black and white stop-motion animation has never looked better. Plenty of humour, plenty of your typical Tim Burton darkness and some touching narrative involving the weird kids with no friends who ultimately, well, no spoilers here....go see.
And, because I'm going away I'm going to hit you with a musical triple whammy today because I was thinking of one thing then I heard another and then another link came my way and before you knew it I just couldn't decide. And they're linked in an indie-fashion too so it's not quite as random as you might think. 'Serendipitous' is more my way of thinking.
First - a new band from Dublin, debut single, fab.
Second - new single from someone that I've liked in the past, very sweet.
Third - the song from the closing credits of today's movie, also very lovely.
