A Big Adventure.

Inspired by Corinthian's tales of bus journeys, and in particular the CityZap bus - I did some research and found that the said bus not only does Leeds-York, but does Leeds-Manchester with one intermediate stop at Ainley Top, Nr. Huddersfield - so off we went.
The bus arrived on time (see extra) and me & Mrs. MD climbed on board. It banged, crashed and rattled its way along the M62 and right into Manchester City Centre - Piccadilly Gardens.
We explored the surrounding area - my main Blip is the Imperial Chinese Archway at the entrance to Manchester's Chinatown.
It was a gift to Manchester from the Chinese People. It is the only one in Europe and regarded as more decorative than the one in San Francisco. Designed and built by a team of engineers from Peking, it is decorated with ceramics, lacquer, paint and gold leaf.
My other 'extra' is Manchester Town Hall looking resplendent in today's sunshine. We had entertained thoughts of having a look around inside only to find it closed last week for SIX years - so that a vast £330m restoration can be carried out.
Ah well - it was a good day out and will be repeated....:-)
