City Centre homes - old and new

An interesting perspective on the back of a row of Glasgow tenements in High Street and some of the latest high-rise homes in the city centre.  Well into the 20th-century working class people lived eight to ten families up the one stair, sharing a communal backcourt and with the three families on each landing sharing each stair-head toilet. Many city centre tenements were torn down until local people started demanding the upgrading of their homes rather, than tearing communities apart along with the houses. The Victorian flatted properties were built by the City Improvement Trust, 1899-1902, and were re-roofed, refurbished and stone-cleaned in 1985. Which would you rather live in?
