Australia Day

There have been celebrations across our nation today as we mark Australia Day. There is a huge debate taking place around Australia as to whether we should be celebrating the day that Australia was invaded by the British. In many Commonwealth countries they celebrate their national day on the day they became independent.

What I truly believe is that we shouldn’t try and avoid what happened historically in our country. The truth should be taught in our schools from an early age so that we can have more compassion for and understanding of our indigenous population.

A pair of our iconic birds made an appearance at Wombat Hollow this afternoon. It had just started to rain when they could be heard laughing their heads off just outside the living room.
