Primitive art

In the foreground is a primitive-style carving of an echidna given to me by an Australian former colleague. Behind that is a piece of fresh olive-wood which has recently been bark-stripped by two naughty little sheep, not naming any names of course. Given that each sheep has only eight incisors in her bottom jaw with which to perform this work, I think it's quite artistic.

Separately, and perhaps of particular interest to freespiral, although I have made no plans nor preparations for International Holy Wells Month yet this year, our island's local news site in English tells me that carnival festivities commence tomorrow, Friday 26th January, so I have done the tiniest amount of research on that;
“Greece's Carnival season, known as «Apokries,» is a period which traditionally begins ten weeks before Greek Orthodox Easter and culminates on the weekend before «Clean Monday,» (Ash Monday) the first day of Lent, which is on 19th February this year.”
