A bittersweet day

Colin and I attended a friend's funeral today in Aberdeen, then in the afternoon learned of the sudden unexpected passing of a fellow Rotarian. I've lost count of the number of people we know who've left this world this month. This evening was spent at a Burns Supper, and I'd looked out my much-loved Antonia Fraser poetry collection in case I needed a party piece. So a day of mixed emotions, of shared memories, and being thankful for good friends.
