The vessel in this photograph is the Bibby Sapphire an offshore support vessel alongside in Falmouth.
Bibby Offshore is the remains of what was once Bibby Line a shipping company primarily involved in transporting troops.
The Bibby Family were strong and generous supporters of the boys Training Ship ‘Indefatigable’ originally based on the Mersey before moving to Llanfair­pwllgwyngyll­gogery­chwyrn­drobwll­llan­tysilio­gogo­goch on Anglesey where I was schooled in 1968-‘69.
The family ensured that every boy who wished to was found a place in a shipping company on leaving.
Now owned by Sir Michael Bibby it’s good to see the company still afloat and doing well.
