Always Different, Always The Same (Wed 24.1.2018)
It was mid-evening when a notification popped up on my iPad to tell me that Mark E Smith of the mighty Fall had passed on. I knew he had been very ill in 2017 and had even done some gigs from a wheel-chair, but I thought he had recovered from whatever illness that had been so was quite unprepared for the news.
I hadn't taken any pictures that day and was not planning to post a blip. I took a hasty snap of Smokey on the kitchen table but it was blurred and he went off in protest at my feeble photographic talents. Instead I grabbed a few of my sixty-five or so The Fall CDs, put them above a section of my Fall shelf and climbed up some steps on a folding stool to properly photographically commemorate the end of an era.
I never saw the band live.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Fall - How I Wrote 'Elastic Man' (recorded 8 May 1980, Cargo Studios, Rochdale)
This is the 9th time only that the Fall have featured as a LOTD and is the earliest, being as it was the A-side of their fifth single, on Rough Trade. Later the band Elastica referenced the song on How He Wrote 'Elastica Man', with guest vocals from Mark E Smith himself.
