Logging On for Work
Today we travelled from the city of Trang by songthaew (an open-backed truck with a covered roof, and benches on each side for the passengers) to Tasai Pier where the ferry leaves from for the island of Sukorn. It was about 45 minutes in the truck and then 15 minutes by ferry to the island. Everyone at each point along the way knew who we were and where we were going because the agent in Trang had taken photos of us on her phone and then sent them on ahead. Great system - it worked a dream
We have never visited Sukorn before and our first impressions are that it is a really lovely island and the people are so friendly and helpful. A little pink motorbike and sidecar combination was waiting for us and whisked us off to where we are staying for the next few days.
The houses are mostly pastel coloured and what with that and the combination of flowers and tropical fruits growing everywhere, it is so pretty.
In the evening we had a tremendous thunderstorm and a massive amount of rain. This is the first time in quite a few visits to this area in January/February that we have ever seen rain.
These men we found out, were transporting the logs as they are building a house. This is the main road around the island.
Sorry I'm not commenting at the moment, but the wifi connection can be a bit hit and miss, so I'm struggling.
