Avalanche Alert

Awoke this morning to find that our garage and indeed the whole village was in total lockdown. Police patroled barriers blocking the roads forbidding access to the centre and automatic telephone messages from the commune to inform residents that helicopter blasting of the slopes would commence at 09.30. Welcome news as it was a glorious day and the pistes would open when the helicopters had finished their work. I was on the first lift up to enjoy the glorious powder and was joined by SP in the afternoon. What a day! If you look at the shot you can see just one of the impressive avalanche trails.
