More from Baku

This afternoon Robin and I walked in to downtown Baku where we visited the literary museum.  For a mere ten manat (£4) we enjoyed a fascinating tour from a well informed and enthusiastic guide who talked us through many exhibits of paintings and manuscripts.  Most especially we learnt about Nizami Ganjavi, much revered C12th century romantic epic lyrical poet born in the part of Persia that's now Azerbaijan. His statue is in the centre of today's panoramic view of the city, as he stares at the museum building (both also seen in my Saturday blipfoto and yesterday's extras).  By the time we left the museum it was time for a drink... and then a quick visit to Robin's colleague who lives at the top the building also pictured in the background of Saturday's photo - and today's blip was taken from her balcony.  

Back home for for a quiet evening, reflection on the day, plans for the future and Indian take away.  Back to Istanbul tomorrow.
