One final blip
Miss Molly was persuaded after much humping to start the MollyMcGoo blog. Being the funniest dog we'd ever met it would have been a shame not to capture her antics. But she had one condition - she would only do it for a year. Life is just too short she said, there are many other things to try.
Sadly life was too short for Miss Molly who died suddenly last week giving us no time to get used to the idea. She hadn't yet reached her 4th birthday.
Molly made us laugh every single day.
She made people smile wherever she went and assumed everyone she met would want to pat her (and was most dis-chuffed if they didn't). The pink flower on her collar had people awwing and laughing every single day. I couldn't even begin to count the number of people she made feel good
She was totally bonkers, she was clumsy, she couldn't turn a corner and had to run around the kitchen island to get to the back door. She bounced on her bum when food was being offered, bounced in your face when you came home and she could jump from standing to see out of a window despite being 35kg of heavyset dog.
Poor Woody got the worst of Molly - she would pounce on him if he strayed too far, pounce on him if we shouted at him and pounced on him if we shouted at her. She would even alert us when he escaped from the garden, and then pounced on him when we brought him back from the neighbours.
'Molly off' was a frequent command on our many walks
Molly was meant to be a guard dog, not a scary one but a breed of dog that protects the family. But Molly was scared of EVERYTHING. Wooden bridges, leaves falling on her back, birds rustling in bushes, wind, rain, her own reflection. Only recently she took great dislike to a specific Christmas card and ran away from it before approaching it cautiously and then barking at it. And certain songs would make her run crazily around the house making us laugh until we cried. She was, however, extremely good at guarding the washing machine....
Molly was born wonky, she was the only surviving dog in the litter and was rejected by her mum. She had very short legs, inverted eyelids, an overbite and a tail that kinked under her bum resulting in a stump that waggled a lot. She clearly had wonky bits inside too - we just didn't know about them
We didn't go looking for Molly, we had 2 big dogs already. But Molly found us and came into our lives at a time when everybody needs a Molly. She was just what the doctor ordered. She packed a lifetime of memories in the 2 short years we had her and will continue to make us laugh as we remember her antics
Beautiful Miss Molly McGoo - our Dudley, our Clarence - we really will miss you
