We took the bus to the Commy Pool and then walked over Arthur's Seat. I say 'walked' but it was more of a totter on the ice. It was treacherous underfoot and took twice as long to descend as ascend. There was an Edinburgh Uni orienteering event taking place on the hill and we were impressed by the confidence of some of the runners. I suppose they were wearing studs. The Dry Dam path was like sheet ice on the descent so we resorted to a traverse in the deep snow to avoid skiting to our deaths.

The event tents are below the crags in the pic.

Later we found ourselves in the museum where we became the audience for some slam-style, make-some-noise, side-tickling, heartwrenching poetry by some of Scotland’s finest spoken word artists. This was poetry for the masses.

On arrival at home, the kids were surprised to find out they'd walked 11.5km in the day.
