cranberry orange salad
I am definitely waxing nostalgic this week!
This lovely melange of colors reminds me of the salad we always made to go with Thanksgiving dinner. It consists of lemon gelatin (to hold all the ingredients together), chopped celery, apples, oranges, and ground cranberries, and loads of sugar. Back in the day, we used a hand cranked meat grinder to chop the cranberries. And it was a treat to be assigned as the grinder! And we had a special mold we poured the salad into so that we took great care in getting the salad out without disturbing the design. Yes, it was a lot of work, and a bit stressful at that!
I've gotten lazy in my old age and just use cranberry jelly out of the can.
Maybe this year I will try the old recipe :-)
