Rats or Snakes

Every time I drive by this abandoned house with many crates stacked on what was a porch, I wonder if the crates are not a haven for rats, and if so, I suspect it is also a feeding place for snakes.  Nothing about this is attractive to me, and it seems a shame to let a property reach this point of neglect.  I've seen it in this state for a number of years.
