Rain front

We were unscathed by the storm, but several local roads were blocked by trees and the second day of the LAMMA agricultural show was cancelled leading to mayhem on the parkway. Unfortunately it was Alex's volunteer day at Orton Pit, and we got stuck in the traffic for some time.

The middle of the day was spent at a working lunch of the Peterborough Wildlife Trust Local Group Committe. It was a very productive meeting but we were talking for over three hours. I spotted this rather dramatic rain front on my restorative walk back through Ferry Meadows to the car.

I then called in to see Chris and Lizzy, and to take them some receipts for lenses that I'd bought as Christmas and birthday presents. They were both shattered, as neither of them had got any sleep the previous night.
The police CSI had been to visit, but no fingerprints had been found as the thieves had worn gloves. However, there was a trainer print, and apparently the burglars had eaten two chocolate bars while they were there, and drunk a glass of water, so there's just a chance of DNA being found. The CSI thought that it had been completely opportunistic  - apparently their road has had very few break-ins in recent years, but there's been a bit of a spike in numbers recently.

Thanks for all the kind and sympathetic comments yesterday. It's all been a bit of a shock, and the consequential paperwork's a pain, but Chris and Lizzy are bearing up well.
