I've seen a dragon fly and I've even seen a house fly - but a crane fly?

Well fly they do, but not as well as many other insects. In fact they seem to be a bit 'limp' all round really. Not the case though, their larvae are what gardeners call 'leather jackets' and these are the things that eat the roots of lawns, causing dead patches. Every cricket groundsman's biggest fear (apart from protesters digging the square up (refer to Headingley 19 something or other).

Anyway, I digress, crane flies are also known in various parts as mosquito hawks, mosquito eaters, skeeter eaters, wolf mosquitos, gallinippers and gollywhoppers.
