Morran

This reminds me of "Morran" (probably has an english name too) in Tove Janssnons Moomin books. Morran is a very sad figure. She seeks the light and warmth, and sometimes she sits outside a window in the dark. When she moves on, the ground where she sat has turned to ice. Everybody is afraid of her, and she is very lonely.
