Ichneumon Wasp
Just as I've loaded this, Jim has walked through the door. I'd better pay him a little attention so this is a quickie. Come back if you'd like more blurb!
In short, this is a bad image of an Ichneumon Wasp, who escaped me before I got a decent shot. It may be, Achaius oratorius which is a parasitic wasp who's larvae feed on butterfly and moth larvae. Normally found between June and September in hedgerows and copses.
This one is somewhere in my sitting room, enjoying the warmth of an October fire!
They are very small and don't sting!
