Unlike usual quotation books, this one discusses the back story. Neil Armstrong is quoted as having said on 20 July 1969 "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." The trouble was many didn't hear the "a". Also, the papers misquoted it further - "step" for "leap", "all mankind" for "mankind".  Everyone had an improvement  to make!

That man Mr Trump is quoted as having used the non-existent word "bigly". The theory is that because of elision in pronunciation across different states, he may have said "big league".  

The front cover (Wiltshire landscape 1937) is by the brilliant Eric Ravilious who died way too soon in a plane crash aged 39 whilst working as a war artist.
