Coffee drying

Near the estate house were the units for drying the coffee beans and I think the cocoa too. The beans were laid out on the wooden platforms and would then be turned from time to time. I am sure it was done with big rakes but somehow seem to remember people walking on them to turn them!

The triangular hut was on rails and could be slid over the beans to cover them in case of rain.

NB After writing this I discovered a photo slide which clearly shows the beans being turned by walking, I guess more shuffling on the beans. I have yet to find out how to get slides digitalized but will one day get it posted.
