Amaryllis

Not my usual style of blip, this is a record shot for future reference.  This Amaryllis bulb, well actually a Hippeastrum sp (and cultivars) is at least 34 years old probably nearer 40.  It belonged to my Mum before Dad died.  After Dad died she came to live with us and the Amaryllis came too.

For many years it was in flower on Arcane Spark's birthday in the first week of the month.  It seems to be working to a different calendar these days!  Hippeastrum are native to South America and the cultivars are often intergeneric  other genera from the Amaryllidacea.
