in hot pursuit

We saw this osprey stuggle to bring up the big fish it had caught, and we weren't the only ones. Apparently the brown pelican thought it had a chance to overtake the fish-eating hawk and get a free meal. But the osprey got its catch squared away, and put on some speed. See the extra. Soon after all the drama, we were rewarded with the sight of a mature bald eagle coming in to check the fishing. Another great day of birding...and unfortunately our last one here for a while. Now we are packing up for the trip home tomorrow.
