Wound up in Wexford

An excellent day in Leicester, at a course run by an ED and a geriatric physician about treating older people in ED, and how we can improve our service to this group of people.

It was an early start, and I slept very badly the previous night - I probably only had 2-3 hours sleep.  Luckily, one of my colleagues had offered to drive.  There were 4 from Norwich on the course, 3 of us travelled together.  Care for older people in ED is very important in Norfolk - we have a lot attending our department.  In fact, we've just opened the first "OPED".  Though admittedly it isn't functioning terribly well at the moment due to a shortage of both medical and nursing staff.

Luckily, the course was very stimulating with plenty of audience participation, though the pace was more "geriatric medicine" than "emergency medicine".  However I didn't have any difficulty staying awake until the very last talk.  Held in a modern conference hotel, being a Sunday, we were the only users.  Excellent facilities, good food, and a long enough break at lunchtime that I could pop outside to find a photo in the rather nice central courtyard.

But I was too tired to blip last night.
