Bells, no whistles

Range of experiences today. Short walk, during which we finally saw the coyote we'd heard so much about. Over the past few weeks several women had come out of nearby houses to tell us to keep an eye out for the coyote that was running through the neighborhood. Alas, we saw it a few feet from the road, dead. My mom remembered for longer than I thought and said something like, "It's nice out here, but there's also tragedy."

Then I gave her a shower because of a little accident, got her dressed again, and then she added the bells.

Then I showed her a bunch of pictures of herself that I thought would amuse her, but she didn't recognize most of them. I forgot about the pictures of her house in the collection, but when she saw them, she didn't recognize those, either. She said only, "That looks like a nice house."

And finally, we experimented with Skype. Ali and my mom went to one side of the facility and I stayed on the other and we connected on our screens. Success. Now we know we can connect that way when I travel, though both of us felt dismayed at having to see our faces on the screen.
