Poor My Spikey

Another miserable day weather wise, so to follow on from yesterday's Blip here's another souvenir my granddad brought back from Ceylon (which is now called Sri Lanka), it's a porcupine quill box made with with ebony and bone inlay. I'm not really in favour of making ornaments from animal parts, I don't know if the poor porcupine was killed to make this, I hope not. I use this box as a "jewellery" box, (my "jewellery" consists of a couple pairs of cuff-links and a couple tie pins, so it's pretty empty).
