Broken

I was driving along a road today when suddenly there was a ping sound from the dashboard and a message flashed up telling me about some problem with the tyre pressure.  It made me think about the first two or three cars I owned, where basically I only knew I had a problem when something fell off, wouldn't shut, wouldn't open, or when smoke started to appear from under the bonnet.
