Cinderella.....
Matthew Bourne's production at Sadler's Wells, Islington. Because of the train strike we had to drive in.... an hour and a half. I drove back and it was still an hour and half even well after the rush hour! We met our friends at Bellanger, a French restaurant and then walked down to the theatre. What a fantastic show, set in wartime with lots of poignant parts but also some comedy as is usual for Mr. Bourne. I would say that it was more of a contemporary ballet than traditional, no pointe shoes here! The star of the show had to be the "godmother" although it was portrayed by a male "angel", just such a joyous dancer. Matthew Bourne sat just a few feet away from us with his notebook.... and just a few seats along in our row were Karen Clifton and Jeanette Manrara. I think I'll probably go and see it again when it comes to Woking in the summer as I have a different set of friends who will love it :)
