All that remains

of Christ Church Cathedral -  eight years after the earthquakes. And what are we left with? Restoring the old building. Two men orchestrated the move to restore rather than rebuild one of whom has sadly passed away and the other is no longer involved. It is ratepayers and taxpayers who will now foot an enormous bill. The church did not want the cathedral restored from what I gather but is forced to accept the decision. A very divisive debate, where the majority did not win the day.
