Necklaces

These are all. Eclaces I have made over the past year - all made with a technique called kumihimo, which is a Japanese technique developed centuries ago. In its most sophisticated form it was used in braids and fastenings for samurai warriors clothing. What I make is a very simple form, and I want to learn some more complex forms : this one uses 8 strands to form a circular braid, and there are forms which use 7, 12, 16 and upwards.... I use beads on mine, but the more complex versions are often made just with different cords or yarns.
It would be possible to make it a lifetime study - but I’m not dedicated enough for that .... little by little.
