Feeding the geese
When the Rochdale Canal was built just over 200 years ago very few people in Britain would have ever seen a Canada goose. Even 60 years ago there were estimated to be only about 4000 but now one estimate is for over 190,000 and increasing at a great rate. So these geese are probably grateful for any titbits that they are given in an area devoid of much suitable food.
