'Sun dogs'

I was coming home from a visit in Bircotes when I looked up at the sky and saw what looked like 2 suns! The photo isn't as stunning as it was in real life, but to the left of the sun (near a lamp post) is a bright patch with rainbow colours to the edge of it. I also noticed when I uploaded it 2 other patches of 'rainbow' in the sky.
I consulted my cloud book and its called Mock sun or Sun dog and is caused by the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals.
Off to choir tonight, better muster up some energy!
