Round three -

Rhubarb!

Just over a week ago we went to the Lythe Valley in Cumbria to buy some Damsons as our friend's tree had not produced any this year after a bumper crop last year.
Job done and we now have Spiced Damson chutney stored away for later use and for giving to friends.

Chris then stripped the tomato plants - after a very late start we had a huge crop of mainly green tomatoes - perfect for Green Tomato Chutney also a ' Delia' recipe.
So again we have lots of jars to mature for Christmas.

That should have been it but Chris was hoping to make some rhubarb chutney next spring when our neighbour usually gives us lots of his garden rhubarb, although this tends to be used mainly for puddings. Today he spotted some in the supermarket and so off we go again. This time it is not a 'Delia' recipe but one from the internet 'Allotment' website. I've tried both the others before but the rhubarb will be an interesting change.

I can smell it cooking now - it is helping to clear my sinuses - but no eating I'm afraid till the end of the year.

Need to get him started on the Christmas cake next!
