Happy Birthday Tony!
We've filled the day with lots of small but necessary jobs and then set off for Leeds on the train towards the end of the afternoon. Two pairs of gloves purchased, including one pair of fingerless gloves which become mittens for me when blipping in the cold, a couple of thermal mugs and a whole bag full of yummy books. Even better, the books cost us nothing because we had gift tokens! What with club cards and stamp cards, it some times seems that Waterstones are paying us for the books! Not so, obviously, but we are pleased to support a bookshop rather than order more cheaply online. As Tony said when we were having a cuppa in their very busy, independent coffee shop (who source their baking and bread from two local cooperatives and always give Mark the Big Issue seller a cuppa) - you don't get all these people around deep in their books and chat when you order over the internet. Much more sociable and enjoyable.
After our cuppa we walked down town to Jamie's Italian for Tony's Birthday Meal. We agreed that the desserts were a course too far and we should have shared one!
