day 1
After a very long journey, Manchester, Dubai, Dar es Salaam, we arrived at the Selous Game Reserve in southern Tanzania. We arrived with only a couple of hours of daylight left and the short drive to Siwandu camp from the grass airstrip was a delight. In just a few minutes we saw giraffe, impala, warthog, and buffalo along with as yet, unidentified colourful birds.
A warm welcome from the staff, a quick shower and back to the bush fire for our safety briefing (no walking on your own in the dark a Masei is on hand to escort us). We sat chatting away when Lesley said what is that moving in front of the lake. A torch was shone on to a family of elephants with 3 babies that just strolled silently by. What a start !!
