Survivors

These flowers were among the survivors when we gave our mahonia japonica a drastic pruning this morning.

It's probably the wrong time of year to be doing this but it had become drastically overgrown and was beginning to block not just the view but the light from the kitchen so we decided it was time for action.

At least they bring a bit of colour on what's been a dark, grey and cold day.

First Keep Fat night of the new year tonight, when I discover how unfit I've become over the Christmas holidays. This will be my 36th year of Monday night Keep Fat classes; it's definitely working!
