The Little Misses at the Pub
We're trying to get out and about a bit more at the weekends rather than staying in to tidy up, or go to Ikea for meatballs!
Miss E asked earlier could we walk over the fields to the pub for something to eat. Yes I said, as long as we wrap up warm because it's freeeeeezing!
It was a walk of two halves.
On the way they had fun splashing in icy paddles, chatting with Daddy about Harry Potter, throwing sticks for Archie, jumping back and forth over ditches and generally enjoying a lovely muddy walk (see extras)
Miss L got a welly-bog - because she's pathologically incapable of passing a muddy puddle without paddling in it, getting stuck and then stumbling her way out (see extras). She took it surprisingly well saying it was "only a bit wet!"
We sat outside at the pub for tea, Guinness, lemonade and chips and it was cold but fine.
The second - literally the second - they finished their chips, they started hysterically whining about how cold they were and they wanted to go and they were freezing and could we go now.
Never mind I've got half a pot of tea left and Daddy hasn't finished his Guinness.
The journey back was horrific!! You'd think we were at the South Pole in minus fifty degree snowstorms.
Miss L suddenly couldn't move another inch due to the awfulness of having a soaking wet freezing foot.
Well you should stop deliberately getting stuck in muddy puddles then.
Miss E was wailing that she couldn't go on.
Well you should have put more clothes on then. Like I said.
It was tough but we made it back eventually. Freezing and covered from head to foot in mud.
The Little Misses jumped straight into a lovely warm bath and Mr K got into a shower. With filthy Archie!!!
I wrapped myself in a blanket on the sofa.
They had pizza for dinner - a last day of the holiday treat - and we watched The Secret Life of Pets. It was watching that at the cinema that made me decide it was time to get us a pet!!!
