Away with Christmas

Came home from the island on Jan 6 to much Christmas decor.
This is part of what’s on our fireplace mantel…  NU ÄR DET JUL IGEN is the name of a Swedish children’s song that goes  “Now It’s Christmas Again…and Christmas lasts until it’s Easter”  Well not in this house!…some things will get put away today! ( I might leave the tree and the big Mexican creche up for book club here tuesday so I don’t have to do it all at once.)
We spent a Christmas once in Stockholm in the 80s with relatives when there were lots of small children about and we indeed sang this song while dancing around the tree and every room in the house, holding hands in a line.  I can hear it now.  We have many of these little wooden Swedish figures some from our families, some given as gifts from the Swedish relatives.  Our granddaughters love to get them out and have “races” with them before they live on the mantel (altho this little ritual was shorter this year I noticed!)
Along with the Christmas Eve traditions including the food, there is a bit of the Swedish culture happening here this time of year.

down to the wire for the Weekly challenge,  “Culture.”
