Mother

Today we travelled up to South Cave just outside Hull to visit my mother. As I've mentioned in previous blips, she is in a residential home, needing care due to her Alzheimer's.

I haven't taken a photo of her for quite a while and thought it was about time I did. This is the centre piece today's blip offering. I know you are not supposed to take photos of photos for the daily blip, but I did think in this case a collage snapshot of her life would be acceptable, especially as it includes today's photo.

Of course it would take a great deal many more photos than this to represent her life, but here it shows her as a school girl, a young girl, on her wedding day and as a young mother.

When I visit her she doesn't remember what happened five minutes previously, but when I show her old photos such as these and the many more we have, she remembers the occasion and the people and is able to talk about them. Long term memories are all she has left, and those are fading.
