Bouncy

Positively bouncing through the brambles a pair of Goldcrests were looking for spiders, insects and larvae in the freezing temperatures we had on top of the hills here in the Cotswolds.

Difficult to get a straight shot as they moved at speed, flitting through the twigs, from branch to branch in and out of the sunshine. A thin blackish 'moustache' at the sides of her beak give her a bit of a grumpy look: perhaps it was the cold  ;)

This is one of the smallest birds of Britain together with the firecrest measuring only 9cm, the female only having a yellow crown unlike the male which has an orange centre.  I like them because they are dainty and colourful - quite little characters.

Hubs has taken #1 son and his new fiancee to the airport and I am going to put my feet up after doing a bit of sorting! Phew!!!!!!!!
