Smitten with the Mitten

I've stated this before, but my Michigan is the only state where you can raise the back of your left hand, and point (with your right hand) to the place you live. For instance, in the lower fourth of this mitten, there is a slight blemish in the form of a small dot. We live just to the right of the dot...in the darkest strip of wood.

Right about now, though...I am not smitten with the mitten. Why? Because it is so bitter cold. Our scheduled lows for the next 3 nights are -6F, -5F, and -1F. It is bitter, and the local schools are already called off for tomorrow.

This hunk of wood is a cutting board that we got for Christmas.
