Last festivity?

K and C were coming for supper - but the co-op in the village had run out of the stuff I wanted to cook with. So I had to use the “bottom-of-the-fridge” and improvise. A head of broccoli, a 3 week old carrot, a potato and onion with some old Stilton made soup. The croutons were made from a dried up bit of Ciabatta and Parmesan. Main course was one aubergine, sliced and grilled, some old baby tomatoes baked, with a sauce made from a red onion, garlic, a chilli, a tin of tomatoes, a tin of kidney beans and rather deconstructed, almost fridge dried, mushrooms. I topped with some sliced boiled potatoes, and I mixed a left over half tub of quark with some odd bit of Roule cheese and cheddar to put on top. It was really tasty, surprise surprise.

The chaps had some of Mr C’s 12 year old Bowmore, his present from the daughters.
It is time to call a halt to all this jollification!

our friends in Val d’Isere messaged to say they are marooned in their chalet as the avalanche danger is so severe. Also the road in to town is closed. The forecast isn’t great - there has been rain, even high up, on top of a lot of snow, and the weather is to be mild and wet. I must pack a lot of books!
