Nothin' to see here...
I went back to the pond today, but in the morning, to see if the great blue heron was there. Luckily, while I was still there, he flew in and I was able to get some pictures of him.
I tend to anthropomorphize animals and birds (e.g. my first Wheaton Terrier Chester "wrote" our Christmas letter for 10 years), and herons remind me of grumpy old men. I imagine this one is grumbling because his mate sent him off to the grocery store to get some milk. While he stalks off, he's saying, mostly to himself, "blah blah blah, yada yada yada..."
He flew over to an area that had a lot of red in it and I took another photo (see extra). In this one, he reminds me of Groucho Marx with his sideburns.
It's going to probably rain so I'm going to continue reading a book which is a pre-read for an art class I'm taking this weekend. The book is called True Perception: The Path of Dharma Art, by Chogyam Trungpa. The class is about Shambhala Art and it "introduces meditation and awareness exercises as a way to experience the source of every individual's inherent creativity in all aspects of our lives and our world. This can lead us to a state of being from which genuine expression may arise. This program is not just for artists, but is for anyone wanting to experience "art in everyday life".
It's a 2 day class and I'm not sure what to expect really but I am looking forward to it.
