Yum!! Yum!!
Thank you all for your wonderful comments about Peri. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.
This is our youngest Cavalier, Voila! (Also known as Wally). She is our little imp. Since her sister, Peri, has been getting all of the attention, Wally has been a bit quieter than usual. Today, I took her out for a special long walk. When we came home, she got some special treats in her dinner - bits of Cornish game hen. She was so cute as she danced around. After she ate, she laid down and looked at me as though to say, “Thank you, Mom”.
Update on Peri: She had a good day, making little improvements. She is doing well on her medications, but still did not seem to want to eat. She does drink enough water, but hasn’t been interested in eating. Our regular vet, Dr. Bob called, and he suggested that we try an appetite enhancer. About an hour after we gave it to her, she ate about 1/4 cup of special food - more food that she has eaten in the last week!
We are waiting to hear from her canine cardiologist on a follow-up appointment. Since she seems to be making progress, albeit slowly, the cardiologist may want to wait a couple more weeks. At that time, she will do another echocardiogram to see if the clot/mass in her heart has been absorbed, reduced in size or remains the same. In a perfect world, it will be a clot that is quickly absorbed by her body. But, it could equally be a clot that dislodges and creates a life threatening problem, or it could have grown indicating a cancerous mass. Because it is located in an upper chamber in a “tricky” area, it is difficult to determine by ultrasound. And because of the location, it is inoperable if it is a mass.
We are choosing to take a positive attitude and trying to make whatever time she has with us the best that we can - for her and for us.
And in the meantime, we are loving on Wally as much as we can. And she is loving on us, because she knows exactly what is going on as well.
Also, just to let you know, our daughter made it back to Shanghai safely. Her dog, Taz, was very happy to see her as well.
