New Year's Eve

I've just been looking back through me previous 8 New Year's Eve blips. They tell the same story. For about 18 years now we've shared NYE with The Best Mate and, in previous years, his wife and my mother.

It began with The Man and The Mate making a late December journey the length of the country to get a boat on a trailer from the west country and take it up for collection somewhere in Scotland on its way to Lewis. Not exactly Land's End to John O'Groats, but similar!

So we start the day at 10am and sit and watch DVDs interspersed with food and drinks until the turn of the year. I really didn't think it would happen this year, we were all feeling so rough with colds but The Show Must Go On!

We sampled the Christmas cake today. A small one this year because we halved the one Kat made for us so we could share it with The Bro-in-Law. The first year he hasn't had a cake made by Alice but Kat has kept on the tradition and has been using Alice's recipe for many years now. A lovely tasting cake, just not a very inspiring blip of it, Sorry!
