National Championships
Yesterday was the Judo National Championships the best fighters in the country attend this competition. I took both of my children with the knowledge they were going for the experience and if they managed to win a fight that would be a bonus. Vic went out and won her first fight by the highest score ippon in an about 10 seconds. She lost her second but won her third by ippon in about 8 seconds. Victoria had a brilliant day and ended up fighting for the bronze medal but unfortunately although she was winning by a score the other girl beat her, but as we were not expecting a huge amount she did brilliantly and I was so proud of her. She was also the lowest graded player there. She finished in 5th place, this will also give her ranking points for any other competitions she does.
The picture you can see is the whole arena area, tell you, I wouldn't set foot down there I wouldn't have the guts!!
Ollie also was the lowest graded player by a long way and although he made it to the second round of the repechage he did not get any further. He was fighting brown belts all the time and he is only a green belt. He fought hard and did get a score against one of the brown belts. Hopefully though having fought at the highest level of competition he can in the country he should get a good grade for his GCSE P.E which is after all what he went there for!!
